PHINƠI — Made with Virgin PP Plastic

Updated: Jul 3, 2025

At PHINƠI, we use premium virgin Polypropylene (PP) to ensure a smooth and stable brewing experience. This material helps retain heat consistently during extraction — giving your coffee better body, balance, and clarity in every cup. We get it. When you hear "plastic," "hot water," and "coffee" in the same sentence, you're probably wondering: Is it really safe? Can I use it every day?

The answer is YES. PP plastic isn’t just safe. It’s one of the most widely used materials in the food industry. And here’s why.

Polypropylene — A Food-Safe, BPA-Free Material, Approved by the FDA

Polypropylene (PP) is one of the most widely used materials in food-grade applications — and for good reason. It’s durable, stable, and most importantly, free from harmful chemicals like BPA. According to Healthline, “Polypropylene is generally considered safe for humans. It has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for food contact and is often used in containers like yogurt cups, butter tubs, and similar products.” Materials platforms like Plastic Practical also confirm: “Polypropylene containers are safe for food use. They meet strict FDA standards and are considered low-risk for chemical leaching under typical use.”

One of the reasons PP is preferred in health-related products is because it is free from BPA, a chemical often found in other plastics that has been linked to endocrine disruption. Plastic Expert states: "PP contains no BPA, which makes it far less toxic than other plastic types." WebMD, a trusted global health source, agrees: "PP contains no BPA and is recyclable, making it a smart plastic choice."

Beyond its chemical safety, PP also offers excellent thermal stability. Multiple technical sources show that polypropylene remains stable across a wide temperature range, from -20°C to 120°C, without warping or releasing harmful substances. This makes it suitable for both microwaves and dishwashers. WebMD also notes: "PP is unlikely to leach chemicals, even when exposed to warm or hot water."

Food safety and heat resistance are just the beginning. At PHINƠI, we chose virgin PP not only to meet international safety standards, but also to create a durable, reliable coffee tool that performs — cup after cup, year after year. Our material is certified food-safe, BPA-free, and purpose-built for daily coffee brewing.

Do Other Coffee Tools Use PP Plastic?

Absolutely. One of the most well-known examples is the AeroPress, which is made almost entirely from PP plastic, with the exception of its silicone seal. Many other brewers use PP components for the same reasons:

  • Heat tolerance: It handles heat (85–95°C) without warping.

  • BPA-free, food-safe.

  • Cost-efficient, keeps prices fair without compromising quality.

  • Highly stable – perfect for precision coffee tools.

At PHINƠI, we have conducted the product safety tests — specifically on our design and materials — to ensure everything meets international standards.

With all of this in mind, you can feel confident that PHINƠI is not only safe to use daily but is built to last.

Thank you for trusting and choosing PHINƠI.
