When people think of brewing coffee with a Phin, they usually picture the classic aluminum or stainless steel filters. But today, PHINƠI — a modern Vietnamese Phin made of premium, food-safe plastic — is bringing a whole new brewing experience to the table. It’s not just a trend. More and more brewers are choosing PHINƠI over traditional metal Phins — and for good reason. So what makes it different? And more importantly, why does it matter?
Better Heat Stability – Better Extraction

Aluminum and stainless steel conduct heat extremely well — maybe too well. When boiling water hits a traditional metal Phin, heat transfers rapidly to the coffee grounds, causing uneven blooming and rushed extraction. The result? A harsh, unbalanced cup.
PHINƠI does the opposite. Made from virgin polypropylene (PP), it does not conduct heat aggressively. This helps maintain a more stable water temperature throughout the brew, allowing coffee to bloom gradually and evenly. The flavors are clearer, the body more balanced, and the aftertaste smoother.
Smooth, Consistent Flow – Cleaner, Fuller Flavor
Most metal Phins have flat bottoms, which can easily lead to clogging or uneven flow — meaning some grounds get over-extracted while others are barely touched.

PHINƠI features a unique 164.8° tilted base and a larger exit hole. This thoughtful design ensures that water flows smoothly and evenly through the entire coffee bed — no clogging, no uneven patches. The result is a clean, round cup with a sweet, lingering finish.
Optimized for Specialty Coffee

Specialty coffee often requires a coarser grind to preserve aroma and flavor. But traditional Phins struggle with coarser grounds — the flow is either too fast or too restricted.
PHINƠI is built with specialty coffee in mind. Its larger exit hole and flow-friendly structure make it ideal for brewing with a wide range of grinds. You get the full flavor spectrum — sweetness, acidity, aromatics — exactly as the roaster intended.
No Metallic Aftertaste, Just Pure Coffee
Coffee is highly sensitive to scent and taste. Over time, aluminum Phins can oxidize and develop off-flavors. Stainless steel Phins may feel “cold” and subtly mute coffee’s natural notes.
PHINƠI is made from BPA-free, food-safe PP plastic that’s odor-neutral even at high temperatures. There’s no lingering metallic taste — just clean, honest coffee flavor, as true to the bean as possible.

It’s Not Just a Plastic Phin. It’s a Brewing Upgrade.
